How we move a feature from shipped to adopted
A repeatable path for product teams who want evidence before the next sprint — not another unused dashboard.
Five steps we run with your team
Use this as a self-serve checklist, or ask us to facilitate the full loop.
Name the behaviour
Agree what “adopted” means for one feature: first valuable outcome, weekly repeat use, or a role-specific habit. Without this sentence, charts stay decorative.
Check the instrumentation
Confirm first-use and completion events exist, are named by intent, and survive the next UI rename. Fill gaps before you judge the feature.
Separate discovery from value
If people never open the feature, fix findability and messaging. If they open it and leave, fix the path to value. Mixing the two wastes redesign cycles.
Segment the audience
Compare cohorts who received the release against the wider base. Plan, role, and region often explain “low adoption” better than averages.
Brief and decide
Recommend invest, redesign, train, or retire — with owners and dates. Schedule the next review so the decision does not evaporate.
